Women for Change (WfC) as a gender focused non-governmental organisation that builds capacities in rural communities by focusing on rural development as well as gender development has planned various ways of ensuring that development is made possible in rural communities it works with.

Therefore Women for Change has embarked on the construction of the poultry and the guest’s room at WfC development Centre in Mumbwa to support and foster development.

Speaking in an interview during the Women for Change 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) celebration supported by COADY,  in Mumbwa, Mr. Patrick Phiri a brick layer who is also a youth member of WfC of Chibila area commended women for change for the support and empowerment rendered to him.

Mr. Phiri also recognized WfC’s support as the reason his able to manage and sustain his family as well as pay for his school through brick laying, in which WfC has fully contributed to by offering brick laying training.

“I can now provide for my family and also pay the required fees for my school in the programme am doing all because of the help I have received from WfC “said Mr. Phiri.

Mr. Phiri among other members of WfC who are members of the rural communities have been supported and trained in their various skills by WfC in order to better their lives, thereby achieving sustainable human development in the communities.

WfC has worked with the rural communities in its operational areas as well as other parts of Zambia since its inception in 1992.It has worked with five provinces namely Southern, Eastern, Lusaka and Western province covering 12 districts.

And for organizational sustainability WfC offers training to members of the community in different areas which in turn empowers the people of the society, these includes advocacy, human rights training and community mobilization among others. WfC  works to attain its vision through upholding its belief  that  a society where there is gender equality in economic, social, cultural and political aspects is close to achieving sustainable development.
