Gender Analysis and Awareness Raising
|
WfC undertakes activities
to promote and support gender sensitivity. This ensures that women and
men in WfC operational areas are gender sensitive and able to act on
gender issues affecting them.
Human Rights
Education
WfC facilitates human
rights education among rural communities so that they can act on human
rights issues that affect them. This program has also been extended to
the traditional leaders countrywide and the in the SADC region.
Economic Empowerment and Cooperatives Development
WfC facilitates the
economic empowerment of rural communities in a gender-balanced manner so
as to uplift their living status and improve their standard of living.
This is done through self-generated income-generating activities. WfC
also facilitates the development of viable and participatory
cooperatives.
Overall Rural child and Youth Development
WfC has been striving
to make meaningful childrens’ rights, particularly for the rural
community as stipulated in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of
a Child (CRC). WfC also facilitates economic empowerment among the
youths.
HIV/AIDS
WfC is working towards
poverty eradication in the WfC operational areas because of a strong
conviction that there is a link between poverty and HIV/AIDS infections.
WfC is also intensifying advocacy for policies and practices that are gender
sensitive, just and effectively respond to the plight of the poor and
those affected and or infected by HIV/AIDS.
Advocacy
WfC works with remote
rural communities and other organizations that espouse the same values as
WfC, to advocate for gender sensitive policies and practices that respond
to the plight of the poor. WfC also helps the communities to get informed
and make informed decisions and choices through Information, Education
and Education (IEC) materials and development through radio.
