Women For
Change Departments
|
Programmes Department
|
The role of the Programmes Department is to
organize, work with and empower rural communities especially women
through gender analysis and awareness raising and popular education
methodologies so that they are able to take full control of their own
development. This is done in order to contribute towards the
eradication of all forms of poverty.
|
Human Rights Department
The role of the Human Rights and Gender
Department is to undertake activities that promote and support
gender-sensitivity. This ensures that women and men in WfC operational
areas are gender sensitive and able to act on gender issues affecting
them.
The department also facilitates human rights education among rural
communities so that they can act on human rights issues that affect them.
This program has also been extended to the traditional leaders
countrywide and in the SADC region.
The SADC region programme is aimed at
bringing traditional leaders in the southern region together to share
ideas on how to influence policy formulation and good governance.
Information and Advocacy Department
|
The Information and Advocacy Department of Women
for Change is the "window" of the organisation. Through
it, the outside world views the organisation and the organisation gets
the view of the outside world. The main responsibility of the
department is to promote the corporate image of Women for Change
to the various target (and potential) clientele.
|
|
The department’s activities include
facilitating networking initiatives between WFC and other institutions
of various nature such as Government, civil society, business;
information gathering, storage and dissemination of information and
lobbying for advocacy purposes; maintenance of a cordial relationship
with various stakeholders and promotion of effective communication with
the rural communities in particular and the general public. The work of
the Information and Advocacy Department is directed towards increasing
public awareness of the role of Women for Change as a leading
development agency responding to the needs of the broader society but
with more emphasis on the needs of women and men in Zambia’s rural
communities.
|
Finance and Administration
The Finance and Administration Department of Women
for Change is in charge of the organisation's administrative and
finance issues. Women for Change as an organisation highly
values and fully adheres to the principle of transparency and
accountability. At the end of each financial year, the Department
produces an annual report and audited accounts that are presented to the
Annual General Assembly and to the Zambian government officials as required
by law. The department also keeps donors regularly informed on the use of
funds that they make available for specific projects. In addition, it
provides support services to other departments in order to ensure smooth
implementation of programmes. Finally, the Finance and Administration
Department is in charge of human resource management.
